Lane Hutson is set to join the Montreal Canadiens

After a disappointing loss to the University of Denver, Boston University Terriers defenseman Lane Hutson has signed a three-year contract with the Montreal Canadiens and is expected to join the team in the coming days. Per PuckPedia Hutson's contract starts this season and includes a maximum salary of $855K per season and a $95K signing bonus. He could earn $750K in potential A performance bonuses in 2024-25 and $850K in potential A performance bonuses in 2025-26.

Lane Hutson was drafted 62nd by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2022 NHL Draft and has become one of the best young forward-defensemen. In two seasons at Boston University, Hutson had 30 goals and 67 assists in 77 games. Hutson was named the NCAA (East) Player of the Year and finished as a Hobey Baker finalist in both of his collegiate seasons. Additionally, Hutson won a gold medal with the U.S. U20 team last winter, where he had six assists in seven games. Slightly undersized at just 5-foot-10, Hutson's stickwork and knowledge have allowed him to thrive at all levels of hockey.

Now joining a young D-core that includes Arber Hekay, Justin Barron and Kayden Goulet, Hutson will have a chance to make a name for himself in the National Hockey League. Shea Weber and P.K. We haven't seen an offensively talented defenseman suit the Canadiens like this since Subban, so fans should be excited.
