'Queen Rock Montreal', Marvel movies to bow on Disney+ May 15 in Imax enhanced sound

Following the Imax exclusive event release, Queen Rock Montreal will make its global streaming premiere on Disney+ on May 15 as the first concert film with Imax Enhanced sound via DTS. It will debut alongside the availability of Imax Enhanced sound for 18 Marvel films.

Disney+, Imax Corp. and Disney+ is the first major streaming service to enhance the home viewing experience with Imax Enhanced, according to the announcement by DTS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Xperi Inc. According to the announcement, DTS will ensure that filmmakers' creative intent is fully optimized for Imax-quality presentation, enabling content to be viewed at home in the highest fidelity.

“DTS:X by DTS preserves the full dynamic range of a theatrical mix, allowing sound to move freely around the listener for a more immersive presentation in the home,” it said.

This feature is available to subscribers on Imax Enhanced certified devices, from select DTS:X enabled Android/Google TV devices from Sony, Hisense, Sharp, Xiaomi and others. Additionally, owners of certified DTS:X-enabled AV receivers from manufacturers such as Denon, Marantz and JBL can also enjoy the experience at launch.

Queen Rock Montreal Featuring the original concerts of Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon on November 24th and 25th, 1981, specially arranged to be captured on a full-length concert film to document their live show. The film was restored for Imax by Mercury Studios.
