Police have charged a teenager with stealing a car in Toronto's north end

A 14-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a carjacking in north Toronto earlier this week.

Police said they were called to the scene of a robbery at Bayview Avenue and East Sheppard Avenue on February 20 at 3 p.m.

Police say a woman was getting into her car when she was approached by five suspects. One of the suspects, a 14-year-old boy, grabbed him and pulled him out of the car before getting inside and fleeing the area.

Police said officers were able to identify the vehicle containing the suspect because it was equipped with a GPS tracking device.

As a result, the suspect was arrested and charged with robbery, criminal possession of property and criminal trespass.

He could not be identified due to the terms of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
