The Calgary Canucks have won two games at Whitecourt to advance to the series

Not only did the Calgary Canucks steal home-ice advantage in the Alberta Minor Hockey League championship series, but they also swept the first two games of a seven-game series against the Whitecourt Wolverines.

The Canucks headed to Whitecourt and defeated the Wolverines 5-1 in Game 1 of the Inter Pipeline Cup Final on Friday. Calgary also captured Game 2 at JDA Place with a 5-2 win over the Wolverines on Saturday.

Whitecourt's 20-year-old defenseman, Olds' Kyle Venneman, was kept off the scoresheet in Games 1 and 2.

Sunday and Monday are weekends for the series. It moves to Ken Bracco Arena at Calgary's Max Bell Center for Games 3 and 4, respectively, on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Calgary's last appearance in the AJHL Finals was in 1999, also the last time the Canucks won the league championship.
