The wrestler from Montreal qualified for the Paris Olympics

At 26 years old, Alex Moore is at the top of his game and has just hit big.

In March, he qualified for the Olympics.

“The little boy in me used to watch the Olympics in my living room every four years.

Moore earned her spot in the Pan American Olympic qualifier, and she faced some tough competition.

“The guy he beat was fifth in the Olympics in 2016,” Moore's coach David Zilberman said.

For years, Moore was on the rise and seemed destined for greatness.

He was even featured on CTV News Montreal's Randy's Rookie Program.

“The video for 'Randy's Rookies,' it's pretty crazy to watch,” Moore said. “12 years ago, CTV wrote me, and then today we're going to the Olympics. It's exciting and I'm proud of it.”

Moore practically grew up on the wrestling mat.

Early in his career, his father was his coach, which meant juggling performance and expectations.

“Growing up with my dad as a wrestling coach, it came with a lot of pressure,” Moore said. “Not only that, but growing up in a wrestling club in Montreal, I was surrounded by a lot of top athletes.”

Now it's Moore's turn to inspire others.

“It was exciting to see him go to the races and get it for himself. That's exactly what I want to go and do,” Moore's teammate Stone Lewis said.

Despite fulfilling his dream, Moore is barely sitting still. There is a lot of work to be done before August.

“Ultimately, the goal is to win an Olympic medal. There is no doubt about it,” said Zilberman.

“Now is the time to go,” Moore said. “Now is the time when I have to work harder than ever.”
