A man was killed when a car hit a large rock near Toronto

A 60-year-old man has died after his car veered off the road and struck a large granite rock in Clarington Saturday afternoon, police said.

Emergency crews were called to Regional Road 20 in Clarington for a single vehicle crash just after 2 p.m. In a statement released the next day, police said the driver was traveling west when he hit a rock on the north side of the road.

The driver, a 61-year-old man from Oakwood, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call police at 905-579-1520 (toll free 1-888-579-1520) ext. 5262.
