Jones bids farewell to women's curling – Winnipeg Free Press

Olympic gold medalist, two-time world champion and six-time Canadian title winner Jennifer Jones of Winnipeg will retire from women's curling at the end of the 2023-24 season.

Jones, who turns 50 in July, made the shocking announcement on social media this morning.

“I've watched thousands of games – Olympics, national and world championships, grand slams and more. had the privilege of playing,” Jones said in a statement. “Curling has challenged me, changed me and challenged me to be a better person, and I will be forever grateful.”

Jones won his first Scotty in 2005 and won a gold medal with his St.Vital Club teammates at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi.

He won a record 17 Grand Slam titles

The mother of two said she and husband Brent Laing will continue to curl mixed couples.

“It's an easy decision to walk away from something I love,” he said.
