As a result of the fire in the apartment, 1 person was taken to the hospital in serious condition

One person was taken to the hospital Saturday evening after a fire at a residence in the 50 block of Anaheim Green NE.

An EMS spokeswoman confirmed the victim was in serious but non-life-threatening condition after being transported around 11:20 p.m.

The battalion chief of the Calgary Fire Department said the fire caused particularly heavy damage to the garage, which was blown off its foundation. He said the garage door was blown off across the street.
