A 30-year-old man is dead after an armed attack in a Montreal-Nord park Friday afternoon, police said.

Authorities received a call about a man assaulted near the intersection of Savard Avenue and Albert Brosseau Boulevard around 5:30 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found a man with serious injuries — at least one stab wound to his upper body, Montreal police said.

Police spokesman Jean-Pierre Brabant said first responders tried to revive the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His death marks Montreal's fourth homicide of 2024.

Police suspect the attack happened during an altercation between the victim and another man, but Brabant says investigators are still trying to determine a motive.

No arrests have been made, and investigators prepared to interview witnesses and review nearby surveillance footage Friday evening.
