E-bike fire on Sheppard Yonge sends man to hospital

A man was taken to hospital in critical condition after his e-bike caught fire on a Toronto subway train Sunday afternoon, police said.

Just after 3 p.m., police said crews were responding to a fire on a train at Sheppard-Yonge Station in North York.

The owner of the e-bike, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, paramedics confirmed.

There were no other casualties.

There was no service on Line 1 between Finch and Lawrence stations, but service has resumed.
