Couples in Toronto can say whatever they want to this therapist-approved AI relationship coach

Toronto's dating scene has been updated with a new AI trainer and it's therapist-approved.

Couply AI works when couples or any two people who are dating each other enter their date of birth, when they started dating, if they are married or have children, and other personal information into their profiles.

The most notable addition to the app is an AI relationship coach designed to provide advice specifically for Torontonians and beyond.

It analyzes communication data from more than 400,000 people who have used the app since its launch in 2021.

“That's a ton of data! We thought – why not take this data and use it to help couples in their relationships? ,” Couple CEO Timothy Johnson told Now Toronto.

Relationship AI predicts a couple's strengths and weaknesses based on various quizzes, questions and “personality grid” courses.

Johnson often leans on the coach, whether it's surprising his daughter with an artificial intelligence-generated poem, going with a blueberry muffin, or confiding in him when he's faced with any relationship conflict.

Christina Viro, a psychotherapist and owner of the mental health clinic Fresh Insight, believes that one of the biggest benefits of couples relying on AI is that it provides them with hands-on information.

“Most of us have never been taught what healthy relationships look like, and feeling like you don't have the tools to manage conflict, improve communication, or work as a team can be really unethical,” Wirro told Now. Toronto.

Charles Javelona, one of the engineers behind Couple AI, says the trainer is “a true unbiased friend who knows you both very well.”

Currently, Couple AI helps you plan date nights, suggests different communication methods, and actionable steps to improve toxic patterns.

The engineer hopes that Couple AI will eventually be able to make restaurant reservations or buy gifts of the partner's choice via chat.

However, Virro cautions that AI can be used for manipulative purposes, especially when people are just getting to know each other.

A person who wants to be seen as emotionally intelligent or well-adjusted may have a script of “telling the truth” that does not reflect their true intentions and personality.

Virro also doesn't believe the AI trainer will replace therapists, but rather helpful guides.

“Body language, tone of voice, and other forms of nonverbal communication are very important during a therapy session, so we therapists use patterns or

“indicators” of how a particular client is feeling. “Therapy is not just an experience, it's an art, and AI hasn't come that far yet.”

In addition to the relationship coach, Couple has a forum where users can post questions to spark conversation, and 118 courses to help people learn more about themselves and their partners.

People can download Couple app on IOS or Android.
