From Tehran to Toronto to al-Quds, people welcome Iran's retaliation against Israel

Iranians celebrate in Palestine Square in the capital Tehran on April 13, 2024 after hearing news that the Israeli regime has retaliated against the recent terrorist attack on the Islamic Republic's diplomatic mission in Damascus.

People took to the streets in various cities around the world to mark Iran's decisive response to the Israeli regime's terrorist attack on the Islamic Republic's diplomatic mission in the Syrian capital, Damascus.

On Saturday, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched a “large-scale” retaliatory missile and drone strike on occupied territories in response to the April 1 attack.

The Israeli attack resulted in the martyrdom of IRGC Quds Force Commander Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, his deputy General Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi, and five accompanying officers.

Soon after the response, Iranians took to the streets in front of Palestine Square and Tehran University in the capital, waving national flags and chanting slogans in support of the corps.

“I'm really proud of the Corps for taking decisive revenge against this criminal and child-killing regime,” one participant told Press TV.

“The occupying regime of Israel must be clear that it will not hesitate to respond with force to the Islamic Republic's acts of mischief aimed at Iranian interests in the region,” said another.

Similar demonstrations were held in front of Imam Reza Shrine in the holy city of Mashhad, where people condemned the Israeli regime's aggression against Iran.

Demonstrations were held in the building of Al-Aqsa Mosque in the holy city of al-Quds, where Palestinians celebrated after hearing the news of Iran's retaliation.

Pro-Palestinian activists also marched in Toronto, setting off firecrackers and waving balloons to applaud Iran's retaliatory strikes.
