Video of the arrest of a stolen U-Haul driver after a police chase in Toronto

Video footage has emerged showing the moment police pulled the driver from a stolen U-Haul truck and took him into custody after a lengthy chase through the streets of Toronto.

Officers say they were in the area of ​​Danforth and Worden avenues around 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 6 as part of an investigation into the stabbing death of an on-duty officer from a stolen truck outside a Scarborough Best Buy. tried to stop the car.

The suspect refused and got into some kind of “fight” with the responding officers, at which point police learned the man had been robbed at gunpoint. After getting the citizen to safety, the suspect took off in a U-Haul and drove through downtown, crashing during the pursuit.

The U-Haul was boxed up along Carlton Street west of Jarvis Street by members of York Regional Police and the Emergency Management Task Force.

One video submitted by a viewer shows the moment a team of responding officers pull the suspect out of the driver's side window of a U-Haul truck and pin him to the ground to take him into custody.

Aerial footage of the arrest, provided by Nazwin Nasir, shows the man being groped by the arresting officer. As the camera fades out, several police cars are seen surrounding the U-Haul, including a red tow truck T-boning the stolen vehicle.

The suspect is soon picked up and led into the hood of the U-Haul in handcuffs as police pull him over again.

At this time, police are not disclosing what charges the suspect will face and are encouraging anyone involved in the collision with the U-Haul to contact investigators.
