Cincinnati Reds, Toronto Blue Jays Atop Impressive Early Home Run Leaderboard

The Cincinnati Reds improved their record to 7-6 with an 11-1 victory over the woeful Chicago White Sox on Friday night.

Cincinnati is looking to make the playoffs for the first time since the COVID 2020 season, and winning games like this against bad teams is one of the things you have to do if you want to make the playoffs.

Speaking of shredders, Reds young slugger Allie De La Cruz drove for 449 feet in the win, making him exclusive early-season company.

According to Sarah Langs of MLB.com:

Players with multiple 445+ foot HRs so far this season:

Vladimir Guerrero Jr
Ellie De La Cruz

De La Cruz, known for his excellent athleticism and traits, is hitting .333 so far. He went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs in the win Friday. He posted a 1.104 OPS entering Friday, the second-highest among the Reds, behind only Spencer Steeter (1.199).

De La Cruz made his debut last season and while his talent is undeniable, he had some things to clean up this season. I hope this good start is an indication that he has done so.

The Reds and White Sox will play again on Saturday afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for 2:10 PM ET. Left-hander Nick Lodolo (0-0, 0.00 ERA) will make his season debut for the Reds, while the 2-11 White Sox will send ace Garrett Crochet to the mound. An Opening Day starter for the Sox, he is a hitting machine entering the game at 1-1 with a 2.00 ERA.
