Winnipeg Heritage Projects to Receive Preservation Awards

WINNIPEG – Heritage Winnipeg has announced that the 28th annual Preservation Awards will be presented on April 17.

Winners will be announced at a free public event at the historic Millennium Center on Winnipeg's Main Street. Awards are presented in three categories: Heritage Preservation Award, Outstanding Service Award and Youth Award.

“I am delighted that so many exciting and unique heritage building projects have been put forward this year involving passionate individuals and community groups. It shows the commitment and passion Winnipeggers have for our built heritage,” said Cindy Tugwell, executive director of Heritage Winnipeg.

Nominations are open to anyone and will be judged by a committee of heirs, according to the Heritage Winnipeg website.

Heritage Winnipeg has been hosting the awards since 1985 and has honored more than 140 buildings and more than 65 people, the release said.
