Toronto FC 2022 MLS expansion club Charlotte FC will travel to the sixth all-time meeting between the two clubs. TFC has a 3W-1L-1T record through its first five meetings with the Crown. The two Eastern Conference clubs have met twice before at Bank of America Stadium, with both sides winning at the multi-purpose stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. TFC will be looking for their first road win against Tajin on August 27, 2022 at Bank of America Stadium after winning the first leg 2-0 against Charlotte thanks to goals from Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi. The Reds recently beat Charlotte FC 1-0 on March 9 in their 2024 MLS home opener, thanks to an MLS goal from Lorenzo Insigne.

The Western Conference club entered the match fresh from a loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps last Saturday after scoring two goals in each half at BC Place Stadium in British Columbia. The result ended a five-match scoring streak for the Reds, which saw the club score six goals in five matches and win three in March.

A trio of Toronto FC players on the club's current active roster recently played their 50th game for the club in all competitions. As recently as last Saturday against Vancouver, Homegrown product Cosey Thompson made his 50th appearance for the Reds, becoming the eighth TFC player to reach the milestone. American defender Shane O'Neal reached the milestone against Sporting Kansas City on March 30, 2024, while Italian winger Federico Bernardeschi made his 50th appearance for TFC on March 9 in the club's 2024 home opener against Charlotte FC. The remaining five players on the current roster. The Canadian quintet of Jonathan Osorio, Richie Laria, Ayo Akinola, Jahkiele Marshall-Rutty and Deandre Kerr reached the milestone.
