Questions remain about the crash outside Winnipeg that was caught on tape

Evidence of the chaotic and violent crash captured on video remains, and residents near the crash site, including those who filmed the fire, say many questions remain unanswered.

One of those questions: How did the video get online?

“I don't have anything,” said Julie Lund, who filmed the crash.

The crash happened around 8:15pm on Wednesday when RCMP were called to a report of a two-vehicle collision in the RM of East St. Paul.

Witnesses told RCMP that two vehicles — a gray Nissan pickup and a gray Dodge Ram — were traveling at a high rate of speed and either racing or chasing each other when they collided near Pritchard Farm Road before the crash. .

“You only see that on YouTube or in the movies.”

Five people were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The video was taken from Lund's second-floor camera, which he said was the only copy police had when the video surfaced online.

“The investigator asked me for the video. I sent it to him and within half an hour it was online,” Lund explained.

Julie Lund, speaking to CityNews, said she doesn't know how the video from her dash cam got online and said the only person who shared it before it was made public was an RCMP investigator. (Steve Anderson/CityNews)

Lund and her husband don't understand how the video got to the public, but they said they want to know how it got from their camera to the Internet.

An RCMP spokesperson said they were “not aware” of an RCMP officer uploading or sharing the video, and the RCMP communications office said it had not been posted on any platform, that they had no information and had not received an official complaint about the footage.

“Those trucks, the front end is completely broken. Totally crumpled,” said Stacey Corden, who was one of the first on the scene.

According to him, the whole situation was chaos. It is hoped that after the collision, the dispute between the two parties will continue and criminal proceedings will be initiated.

“This is not just a random collision. Something happened between these two.'

RCMP are continuing to investigate.
