Fire on Toronto's west side: one dead

One person was killed in a fire on Toronto's west side early Sunday morning.

According to Toronto Fire, the blaze broke out shortly after 4 a.m. at 115 McCormack St., which is north of St. Clair Avenue and west of Weston Road.

They said that parts of the tractor trailers caught fire, and the fire spread to nearby tractor trailers.

Toronto Fire Rescue told CTV News that paramedics took one patient to hospital.

Toronto Fire Chief Matthew Pegg confirmed in a subsequent post on Channel X that one person was “injured.”

“During the fire and search and rescue efforts, one person was inside a storage trailer located near the fire,” he wrote.

“This man was rescued and taken into the care of @TorontoMedics.”

Pegg expressed his condolences to all those affected by this “tragic” fire and said an investigation into the origin, cause and circumstances of this fire is currently underway in conjunction with the Toronto Police and the Ontario Fire Marshal.

The fire is now out. The fire in Toronto is still on the scene.

Toronto police would not confirm whether the incident is considered suspicious.
