Cooler weather towards Montreal

After warm weather in southwestern Quebec, temperatures will drop this week.

Daytime temperatures in Montreal have been above freezing since last Thursday, with 6 degrees on Feb. 8, 7 degrees on Feb. 9, and 8 degrees on Feb. 10.

The average temperature in mid-February is -5 degrees Celsius.

Tuesday will be the last mild day, with daytime highs just above freezing.

Temperatures will drop in Montreal Tuesday night.

Although temperatures are above average, it will be much colder with strong winds.

Overnight lows will drop to -8 degrees Celsius in Montreal on Tuesday night, but northerly winds will be 20 km/h.

An afternoon high on Wednesday is expected to be around -4 degrees Celsius, closer to the season, but a west wind of 30 with gusts of 50 km/h will make it much colder.

On Wednesday, the wind chill is expected to be around -13 during the day.

Montreal should see some light snow Tuesday night, as well as another round Thursday night into Friday.

Minimum accumulation is expected to be around two to four cm.

The coldest day in the long-term forecast is expected to be Saturday, as daytime temperatures are expected to be -8 degrees Celsius below average.

Daytime highs are expected to stay below freezing next week.

So far this winter has been very warm.

Average temperatures in December and January were four degrees above average, and the city has yet to hit -20 degrees Celsius.
