Toronto truck cuts off car on Black Road, hits driver: Sault police

Police say a commercial vehicle hit another vehicle last night and the driver turned around at the headquarters hours later.

A Toronto man is facing charges after an incident on Black Road Thursday evening.

On Thursday evening around 8:45 p.m., someone called 911 to report that a vehicle was being rear-ended by a commercial vehicle (CMV) and the victim had been assaulted by the driver of the CMV.

An investigation by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Department determined that the CMV had passed the victim and struck his vehicle, damaging the vehicle and pulling onto the side of the road.

The driver of the CMV left before stopping the victim, police said. The driver of the CMV then got out of the vehicle and punched the victim, police said.

The victim was not injured in the conflict.

Around 4 a.m. on April 12, a CMV driver in Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and himself and the man were arrested.

Alexander Allen, 41, of Toronto, was charged with:

  • attack
  • dangerous operation
  • do not stay (according to the Traffic Law)

Allen was released on a recognizance and is due back in court on June 10.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Allen is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
