According to a Facebook post, the shelter is raising money for aquatic therapy at the Canine Aquatic Center to get Ty, nicknamed “Thickness,” in the best possible shape.

Given that most cats love the water, Ty was initially reluctant to take swimming lessons.

But the orange cat is finally starting to believe it will be in the water, and all of Ty's hard work has paid off in the shelter's recent renovation.

“Do you remember Tee?” She is well on her way to her goal weight, thanks to everyone who donated to her aquatic therapy at the Canine Aquatic Center!” the shelter shared in its latest post.

“It took time and confidence, but this guy is a fighter, doesn't fuss or fight and swims the pool by himself,” she shared on Facebook about her first three pound loss.

The shelter said being overweight was affecting Ty's quality of life, and they hoped to help him lose about 15 pounds before finding a forever home and “living a long, happy and healthy life.”
