10 Arrested After Fairview Point Claire Robbery

Montreal police (SPVM) have arrested eight men and two women in connection with the robbery of a jewelry store at the Fairview Pointe-Claire mall.

The suspects, originally from Chile, are part of a large international criminal network known as the South American Thief Group, known for stealing money and property.

According to the police, the thieves used an incendiary device when the shopping center was closed.

The jewelry store was robbed around midnight before the suspects fled the scene, police said.

Soon 10 people were arrested, some of them in their homes.

Police say none of the suspects speak English or French.

They are charged with theft, burglary and possession of burglary tools.
