Calgary police are investigating an alleged attack at a dog park

Calgary police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man they believe attacked a woman in a southeast park earlier this week.

According to investigators, around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10, a woman was walking her dog at the north end of Sue Higgins Park at 9770 15th St. SE.

At that time, a dog belonging to a man walking in the park attacked a woman's dog, the police said.

Investigators say the man and woman began to argue and the woman tried to record the interaction on her phone, when the man pushed her to the ground and grabbed the phone from her hand before physically assaulting her.

According to police, the woman screamed and the man grabbed her cell phone from the ground and threw it over a fence as he walked away in an unknown direction.

The victim was treated for his injuries and reported the incident to the police the next day.

Investigators describe the man as light-skinned, about 50 years old and 5'8″-6' tall, with a thin build and short black and gray hair.

He was last seen wearing sunglasses, a baseball cap, brown khaki pants and gray joggers.

Police do not have a photo of the suspect, but have released a photo of his dog.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at 403-266-1234 or report it anonymously through CrimeStoppers.
