The Calgary Book Sale and Sale supports women and teenagers in need

If you're looking for a new novel or have a collection of books you'd like to download, now is a great time to participate in Crossroads Market's annual charity book drive and sale.

The 20th annual event supports Calgary's RESET Society, where women 16 and over, with or without children, receive the support they need to recover from sexual exploitation and transition back into society.

RESET's website states: “RESET provides immediate and safe supportive housing that allows women to stabilize and begin the healing process.”

“(It also) supports the advancement of each woman through transitional housing to independent living when women complete their training through the EXIT (EXPloitation, Intervention and Transition) program.”

The Market Outpost tent is open from 10am to 4pm from April 12-21 and will accept book donations.

“With a great selection of donated books and all proceeds going to support RESET Society programs, this event is a win-win for everyone,” said Crossroads Market Manager Nicole Shawn.

Once the books are collected, the donation book sale will begin and the sales hours are as follows:

  • May 2 from 15:00 to 20:00;
  • May 3 from 10:00 to 20:00;
  • May 4 from 10:00 to 17:00;
  • May 5 from 10:00 to 17:00;
  • May 10 from 10:00 to 20:00;
  • May 11 from 10:00 to 17:00; and
  • May 12 from 10:00 to 17:00

The market has a fundraising goal of $150,000.
