MONTREAL – French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal will visit Quebec and Montreal today as he wraps up a three-day visit to Canada.

Attal and Quebec Premier Francois Legault will hold a working session this morning in Quebec City, where they will hold a joint press conference.

Attal will then travel to Montreal, where he will participate in an economic roundtable with Legault at the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Quebec, manager of the province's pension fund.

He will also participate in a panel organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal along with the Premier of Quebec.

The French prime minister has a full day, visiting an elementary school in the morning and the Quebec International Book Fair in Quebec City.

Standing next to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Ottawa on Thursday, Attal said he supports Quebec's policy of neutrality on independence.

He later addressed members of the provincial legislature – the first foreign leader to do so in Quebec's National Assembly since former French President Francois Hollande in 2014.
