Calgary police are appealing for witnesses to a crash that left a woman dead at the city's southwest intersection.

According to police, the pedestrian is believed to have been in or near a designated crosswalk at the time of the incident. He was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition and died from his injuries shortly afterwards.

The driver, a 49-year-old woman, was not injured. Police said impairment and speed did not appear to be factors in the collision.
