A 3-alarm fire forces several people in North York to evacuate their homes

Several people were forced to leave their homes after a three-alarm fire in North York.

Toronto Fire was called to a townhouse complex on Driftwood Avenue in the area of ​​Jane Street and Finch Avenue just before 9 p.m. Thursday. Initially a two-alarm fire, officials say it escalated to a third alarm before the situation was brought under control.

Toronto police say neighboring homes have been evacuated as a precaution and residents are taking shelter on TTC buses as firefighters work to contain the blaze.

Firefighters say two people were treated at the scene, but no one was taken to the hospital.
