WINNIPEG – WEATHER – Winnipeg residents are waking up to a fog warning this morning, with the weather service advising of near-zero visibility in some areas, which is expected to clear in the morning.

The current temperature is 0°C and the barometer has risen to 101.6 kPa, leaving the city under a blanket of mostly cloudy skies.

Fog, 100% humidity and an easterly wind blowing at 10 km/h are creating dangerous driving conditions. Residents are advised to exercise caution, especially during morning commutes, by slowing down and being prepared for sudden changes in visibility.

Today's weather forecast shows cloudy skies with early morning fog that may affect visibility.

Wind will shift to the northeast, gusting to 20 km/h, gusting to 40 km/h. Despite the foggy start, temperatures are forecast to reach a high of just over 2°C, reflecting minimal exposure to sunlight with a low UV index.

Winnipeg is expecting periods of rain tonight, with a forecast of 5mm. North-east wind speed 20 km/h, gust 40 km/h, decreasing at night. The minimum temperature will be around plus 1°C.

By Thursday, the weather in the city will change significantly. Periods of rain in the morning will change to snow during the afternoon, and the wind will shift to the north, with gusts of 50 km/h increasing to 30 km/h. This shift will result in a significant drop in temperatures, dropping to minus 1°C during the day and reaching minus 11°C during snowy and windy nights.

Winnipeg residents should prepare for this rapid change in weather conditions. The transition from fog and rain to snow within 24 hours highlights the importance of being aware of weather updates and being prepared for winter weather challenges.

Safety precautions in foggy conditions such as reducing speed and keeping a safe distance from other vehicles are very important.

When the weather turns to snow, ensuring your vehicles are winter-ready and planning for potential travel delays can help you safely manage the changing conditions.
