RCMP investigation leads to drug crackdown in Manitoba, 4 behind bars – Winnipeg

An RCMP drug trafficking investigation in Manitoba called Project Distance has put four people behind bars, including two from Ontario.

Mounties said four search warrants were executed on April 4 and more than $250,000 in cash was found in a Winnipeg hotel room, six kilograms of cocaine in a car, one kilogram of the drug in a home in Selkirk and a “small amount.” he is in the second car.

Officers said the drugs were on their way to Selkirk and the Brokenhead Ojibway Nation.

“This is a significant seizure of drugs in our communities that is not going off the streets, because the seizure from the Selkirk residence alone would eliminate the transactions of 1,000 grams to 2,000 (half) grams,” said Supt. John Duff, Manitoba RCMP Eastern District Commander.

Police said they were arrested along with two men from Brokenhead, ages 41 and 33, from two locations in Ontario. All were charged with drug trafficking.

The Winnipeg Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police played a role in the arrest and seizure, RCMP said.

“Drugs continue to affect our community and these results are a step in the right direction to address the problem. Our leadership is committed to making the community a safer place,” said Brokenhead Ojibway Nation Chief Gordon Blusky.

RCMP are continuing to investigate.
