Winnipeg has run out of mosquito repellent

Winnipeg's essential mosquito control tool is running low.

It's called DeltaGard, and it's an insecticide used to mist adult mosquitoes. The problem is, it won't be done again, and Winnipeg will reach the fog four more times.

Now it was said that it is necessary to look for an alternative to the public service.

“I think we need some kind of product that reassures Winnipeggers that when the mosquitoes get bad, if we have a wet season, we're still going to have it,” Kuhn said. Evan Duncan said in an interview Wednesday.

The good news is that fogging is not the only means of protecting the city from mosquitoes, as the main method of combating dervicide.

“It's important for Winnipeggers to know that 90 percent of mosquito control work is dervicidal,” Duncan said.

“However, when we reach that threshold of 25 mosquitoes for mosquito traps, adult mosquito control – fogging – takes place in the city of Winnipeg,” Duncan said.
