Winnipeg Jets “White Parties” return to playoffs with government support

The Winnipeg Jets Whiteout Street Party is returning to downtown Winnipeg this spring, with the Government of Manitoba providing funding to help fans celebrate.

Premier Wab Kinew said Wednesday: “Our government is excited to help bring back the energy of the Jets light parties to downtown Winnipeg. As well as benefiting downtown businesses and raising money to support housing and mental health, swag parties are a great way to come together as a community. Whiteout parties are a great, affordable way to experience the atmosphere of playoff hockey.”

The Government of Manitoba will provide $75,000 per playoff round to support parties before and during each Winnipeg Jets home playoff game.

Sports, Culture, Heritage and Tourism Minister Glenn Simard said: “I hope we can help fund these parties before the Stanley Cup Final. Jets fans are the best in the NHL and I'm excited to see downtown Winnipeg packed with people on playoff kickoffs and game days. Our government is delighted to partner with the True North to deliver these wonderful events that bring people together and add to the diversity of the city centre.”

Street parties will be held on Donald Street between Portage Avenue and Graham Avenue (Hon. Dale Haverchuk Road), adjacent to the Canadian Life Centre.

Tickets will be $10, with half of the proceeds going to United Way to fund initiatives to end chronic homelessness and support mental health and addictions.
