Whiteout Street Parties return to downtown Winnipeg

Winnipeg Whiteout Street Parties return to Donald Street this spring to celebrate the Winnipeg Jets' playoff run.

The Jets qualified for the Stanley Cup playoffs on April 4, 2024 after defeating the Calgary Flames 5–2.

Produced by True North Sports + Entertainment, the festivities are a partnership of the Province of Manitoba, the City of Winnipeg and Economic Development of Winnipeg (EDW) in support of United Way Winnipeg.

The province will provide $75,000 in funding for the playoff round, while Economic Development Winnipeg will provide $50,000 from the Special Events Tourism Fund to help enhance the event.

“Our government is excited to be able to help bring back the energy of the Jets whiteout parties to downtown Winnipeg,” Kineu said. “White parties not only benefit downtown businesses and raise money to support housing and mental health — they're a great way to come together as a community.”

Street parties take place on Donald Street between Portage Avenue and Graham Avenue (Hon. Dale Haverchuk Road), adjacent to the Canada Life Centre, before and during every playoff game at the home of the Winnipeg Jets.

Party gates will open to 5,000 fans two hours before puck drop. The game will be shown on three large screens throughout the block, with additional entertainment including guests and DJs.

The parties are ticketed events, with $5 of every $10 ticket going to United Way Winnipeg to support agencies that work with people experiencing homelessness, addiction and mental health challenges.

“Winnipeg's community spirit is incredible. Dollars raised from Whiteout Street Parties address drug addiction, homelessness and mental health issues in our city. Thanks to all the fans celebrating downtown; Your passion for the Jets will have a long-lasting positive impact on our community,” said Michael Richardson, president and CEO of United Way Winnipeg. “Our collaboration with Economic Development Winnipeg and True North is truly inspiring. I applaud both organizations for prioritizing the community and making a difference in the lives of Winnipeggers.”

Proceeds from the 2019 and 2023 Winnipeg Whiteout Street Parties raised more than $212,000 for community agencies.

Game dates and times will be announced later.
