Shooting in downtown Toronto: one dead

One person is dead and two others are in hospital with serious injuries after an overnight shooting in downtown Toronto's fashion district.

Police said they responded to Queen Street West and Portland Street around 2:36 a.m. to a call of a shooting outside the establishment.

Two adults were then taken to hospital in critical condition, while a third was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to Toronto Paramedic Services.

Police later confirmed that one of the victims died of his injuries in hospital.

Little is known about the suspects, but police said they fled in a dark vehicle.

Yellow police tape cordoned off many businesses on Queen Street Thursday morning, and police said the area was on lockdown while they investigated the fatal shooting.
