Multiple charges have been filed against a GTA 10 resident in the Project Vegas drug-trafficking operation, which police say seized more than $2 million in illegal drugs, cash and firearms.

“Project Vegas focuses on a criminal network responsible for the international importation and distribution of illegal drugs,” said Peel Regional Police Const. Tyler Bell-Morena said Wednesday that “the investigation revealed that illegal drugs were being exported from the Middle East to other countries, including Canada, under various disguises.”

Most of these drugs are for GTA. Not anymore.

This type of criminal activity is not tolerated here and we will continue to work with our local, provincial and international partners to ensure that those who do not get it are brought to justice,” said Peel Police Deputy Nick Milinovich.

Peel Regional Police, Halton Regional Police Service, Toronto Police Service, Canada Border Services Agency, FINTRAC and Ontario Criminal Intelligence Service worked on this case for months and achieved a major victory.

On March 1, 11 search warrants were executed, police intercepted and seized 89.6 kilograms of opium, 13 kilograms of methamphetamine, one Smith & Wesson .40 caliber firearm and $310,000 in cash. Add it all up and add the captured pot, and the shipping cost is just over $2 million.

This game is over. When it comes to Vegas, everyone knows that the house always wins.
