Songa Bahati Manasse, BBA student in project management HEC won second place in the national finals in Montreal Excellent The competition took place on March 23 at the Theater Plaza in Montreal.

“I aimed for the sun (1st place) but instead landed on the moon (2nd place). I felt happy when the jury announced me as the winner of the second prize, because I had previously reached the final stage of the art competition twice and came away empty-handed.”

Although HEC Montréal is a first-time participant, this chubar, poet, orator and storyteller who goes by the stage name Leslamo Competing with 9 other finalists from Quebec universities and various performing arts, he represented the school with pride.

He performed the song “Hope” that he composed, interpreting a tale inspired by the Ivorian storytelling company Bak'in Gado.

The jury consists of three well-known performers and rappers from Quebec CalamineDJ and Composer Robert Robertand versatile actor Guillaume Lambertwas responsible for deciding between the finalists and naming the three winning acts.

“He's a very charismatic person, and he knew how to mix cultural references like storytelling and slam very skillfully, and that's what we were interested in.”
