Woman kidnapped in Scarborough: police

Toronto police have arrested a woman after they say she kidnapped, beat and drove her around for hours before escaping from her captivity.

Police said officers were first called to the theft in the area of ​​Kingston Road and Rockwood Drive in Scarborough on March 31 at noon.

Police say they learned the suspect kidnapped the woman and brought her to an address in the area before attempting to sexually assault her.

According to the police, the victim was attacked in his home and then forced into a car. According to investigators, the suspect stopped quickly after driving for about two hours, during which time the victim managed to escape.

Law enforcement officers were then notified of the alleged abduction and the victim was taken to hospital in non-life-threatening condition.

In a press release issued Wednesday, police said the suspect, 33-year-old Curtis Beckles, was arrested on April 4 and charged with multiple crimes, including kidnapping, forcible confinement, sexual assault and assault.

He is scheduled to appear in a bond hearing on April 11.
