Winnipeg Jets: The Whiteout Party is back

Whiteout Street Parties will return to Winnipeg as the Winnipeg Jets begin their pursuit of the Stanley Cup in the 2024 NHL playoffs.

At each home game, up to 5,000 fans can line Donald Street between Portage and Graham avenues to watch the Jets.

Kevin Donnelly, True North Sports and senior vice president of venues and entertainment, announced that the number of screens on which to watch the game has been increased from two to three. There will also be live music, guests, food trucks and concession stands for fans to enjoy.

“It becomes the talk of the town and soon the talk of the nation. Uniquely Manitoban, Winnipeg's Whitetown Streets brings our fans – their creativity and spirit – to the national stage, giving us all a chance to share our game. playoff excitement with the whole community,” Donnelly said.

Sides open two hours prior to puck drop and Canada Life Center doors open 90 minutes prior to game time.

Tickets for the evening are $10 each, with $5 from each ticket going to United Way Winnipeg to reinvest in the community.

“As we cheer on our planes, we're rallying the hearts of Winnipeggers, bringing the community together and ensuring that no one is left behind,” said Michael Richardson, president and CEO of United Way Winnipeg.

He noted that last year's festivities raised $50,000 for United Way Winnipeg.

The Manitoba government will provide $75,000 to the sides for each Jets playoff round, with an additional $50,000 from Economic Development Winnipeg's Special Events Tourism Fund.

“Winnipeg Jets hockey is more than just a game. It's about identity. It's part of who we are. And it's so great that the Whiteout Street Parties provide an affordable, accessible way for Manitobans from all walks of life to get involved,” said Premier Wab Kinew. .

“It's one of the things that's important to our national pastime. Bringing people together, giving us a reason to celebrate, while also fostering the community spirit that characterizes Manitobans.”

Winnipeggers will also have a second party to enjoy as Party on the Plaza returns. It will take over Hargrave Street Market and True North Square Plaza. Another screen will be set up there to watch the game, and people can enjoy food from vendors inside the market.

Tickets are $20 for this event, with another $5 going to United Way Winnipeg.

All tickets go on sale next Wednesday, and single-game tickets for Round 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs will be available starting April 15.

“Right now it's Go Jets Go. We've won four games. It's exciting times,” Donnelly said.
