A 70-year-old woman was seriously injured after being run over by her car

A 70-year-old woman is fighting for her life in hospital after she was run over by her car in a parking lot in southeast Calgary.

Emergency crews responded to the plaza near Deer Ridge Drive SE and Canyon Meadows Drive SE around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday for a report of the crash.

Police said two vehicles collided in the parking lot of the Co-op grocery store. A 78-year-old woman got out of her car to inspect the damage, but the car was out of gear and rolled over on top of her.

Firefighters provided basic life support to the woman until an ambulance arrived. He was taken to the hospital in a life-threatening condition.

There were no other casualties.

Police say they are not investigating and the scene has been cleared.
