Arrested for Assault at Toronto Airport


A Chatham man returned home after a trip, was met by police, handcuffed and now faces 24 charges.

Chatham-Kent Police began investigating a domestic violence complaint on March 31. Officers learned the abuse had been going on for several years and had affected several people.

They located the suspect, but he was out of the country and an arrest warrant was issued after he could not be identified.

The man was arrested at Pearson International Airport on his return home on Tuesday.

A 30-year-old Chatham man was taken to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently charged with two counts of sexual assault, two counts of sexual assault, four counts of assault with a weapon, five counts of assault and 11 counts of assault.
