The suspicious death of a woman on Montreal's South Shore has been ruled a homicide

Quebec provincial police said Tuesday that the suspicious death of a woman whose body was found in an apartment on Montreal's South Shore is now being treated as a homicide.

According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), local police were called to an apartment on rue Toulouse in Candiac just before noon, where officers found the body of a 20-year-old woman.

Later, this case was transferred to the SCJ.

According to Radio-Canada, officers found the victim's body wrapped in a mattress. Inside the apartment there were traces of blood and violence.

Radio-Canada says police are now questioning someone they call a person of interest.

Officials have not confirmed that there is any relationship between the victim and this person.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
