FlixBus has daily bus service to Toronto from Sudbury

Buses depart from Sudbury at 2:30pm and 2:50pm Wednesday to Monday and reach Pearson International Airport and Toronto Union Station in approximately five hours.

FlixBus has added a bus link to Sudbury that runs to Toronto at 2:30pm and 2:50pm every day except Tuesday.

Buses from Toronto depart Union Station at 8:30 a.m. and Pearson International Airport at 9:05 a.m. daily Wednesday through Monday.

“We see this as an affordable way to get to your next destination or switch to another transportation service,” company spokesman Jonas Pearce told Sudbury.com.

Tickets range from $49 to $59, and travel time between Sudbury and Toronto is between four and five hours.

Ontario Northland bus tickets to Toronto start at around $80 and cover travel times of between seven hours and over 10 hours, according to the ticket listing on their website.

While FlixBus has the advantage of Northland Sudbury to Toronto travel times and prices, the Northland bus network offers much more service across Ontario.

Northland operates direct service between Sudbury and Ottawa (about seven hours), for example, FlixBus passengers from Sudbury must transfer to Toronto before going to Ottawa (over 14 hours of travel, including over four hours of transfer time).

Once passengers arrive in Toronto via FlixBus service, they can transfer and make other FlixBus connections that span North America.

One of the furthest trips, to Las Vegas, costs less than $400, requires five transfers and takes more than 90 hours. A trip to Veracruz, Mexico takes about the same time from Sudbury.

The 40-passenger buses resemble older Greyhound buses, Pierce said, adding that they have been updated with Wi-Fi connectivity and power outlets to charge devices.

The Sudbury market is promising, he said, adding that there is room to fill buses on the road with various stops along the route between Sudbury and Toronto.

FlixBus recently launched in Sudbury, and Pierce said he expects the company to grow.

“Maybe more stops, a frequency that we think is acceptable, but we're hoping to see a lot of demand for the bus service,” he said.

Buses drop off passengers at Ontario Northland Terminal (1663 The Kingsway) and The Four Corners (behind the McDonald's parking lot, 1740 Regent Street), en route to Toronto, and terminate at Pearson International Airport. and Union Station bus station.

“We see this as a great way for people traveling by air to leave your car at home,” Pierce said of the airport stop. “With these two stops, we hope to cover most of the city.”

Aboard Sudbury, FlixBus connects to more than 20 destinations in Ontario, including Ottawa, London and Niagara Falls.

The parent company of FlixBus is Flix North America Inc., which is also the parent company of Greyhound Lines Inc. In the media, they advertise themselves as providing “North America's largest intercity bus transportation and booking platform.”
