Transit users in the Montreal area can now reload their OPUS cards on their phone

This change has been long overdue, but it's a breath of fresh air for Montreal-area transit users tired of long lines to reload their OPUS cards.

Starting Wednesday, people can use the Chrono mobile app on their phones to buy tickets and tickets, pay with credit and debit cards, as well as Google Pay and Apple Pay.

Using the Chrono app, users can scan their OPUS cards by holding them on the back of their smartphone and then complete the transaction.

“This feature provides greater flexibility to OPUS cardholders,” the statement said Transport area of ​​the metropolitan area (ARTM), Montreal Region Transit Authority.

The Chrono app also allows users to check the number of tickets remaining on their cards and check the schedules of buses, metro, exo trains and buses. Réseau express metro (REM).

About 15,000 transit users in the region have tried the app in recent weeks to make sure it's ready for Wednesday's official launch. Last month, ARTM said the success rate was about 94 percent.
