The lawsuit prompted the radical reorganization of the Toronto Zionist Council by the owners of Camp Shalom.

Two Toronto community leaders have opened up about a legal battle involving Camp Shalom, one of Canada's oldest Zionist organizations, which also runs a 75-year-old Jewish summer camp in Ontario.

David Matlow, a CJN columnist who also lectures widely on Theodor Herzl, has sued the little-known Toronto Zionist Council (TZC) for allegedly restricting who can become a member, saying the organization only admits Jews with right-wing political views. Israel and Zionism. His lawsuit also alleges years of financial mismanagement by the organization's former (and current one) directors, which negatively impacted TZC's neglected Toronto headquarters at 788 Marley Ave., and Camp Shalom in Gravenhurst, Ont.

The complaint has been pending in court since August 2022. But as it went on, Matlow's not-so-quiet campaign of pressure won a partial victory: At the center of his accusations, nearly all of TZC's longtime directors were replaced.

Gidi Mamman, a Toronto immigration lawyer, has been named the new TZC board president, and she's vowed to make things right. He wants to help Camp Shalom grow, renovate the office building in Marley, investigate any financial wrongdoing and even try to recover the missing money.

In today's episode CJN DailyWe present to you an interesting story with David Matlow and the new president of TZC, Gidi Mamman.
