Calgary police are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident

Calgary police are investigating a hit-and-run accident that killed a pedestrian over the weekend.

On Saturday, February 10 at 6:45 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of SW 24th Street and SW 162nd Avenue.

Police said the victim was walking from the northeast corner of the intersection to the southeast corner when he was struck by a vehicle turning south onto 162nd Avenue from 24th Street.

The pedestrian, a 48-year-old woman, was on or “near” the crosswalk at the time, according to police.

He was taken to the hospital in life-threatening condition, but died soon after.

After hitting the victim, the vehicle, a maroon 2009 Honda Pilot, collided with a bus shelter before stopping in the median.

Police say the driver of the Honda, a 49-year-old woman, was not injured.

Investigators do not believe impairment or speed were factors in the crash.

Anyone who caught the incident on camera is asked to call police at 403-266-1234.
