Calgary police are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision

Calgary police are investigating a hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian over the weekend.

According to police, around 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, a woman was driving a maroon 2009 Honda Pilot as she was traveling southbound from the northeast corner to the southeast corner of the intersection of 24th SW and 162nd Avenue. A 49-year-old woman was traveling southbound on 24th Street when she turned east onto 162nd Avenue.

According to police, the Honda veered into the eastbound lanes, struck a pedestrian and crashed into a bus shelter.

He then crossed the two eastbound lanes and stopped in the northbound median.

A woman crossing the street was taken to hospital with life-threatening conditions and was pronounced dead a short time later.

The woman driving the Honda was not injured.

According to investigators, impairment and speed were not factors in the incident.

Anyone with surveillance footage of the incident is asked to call police at 403-266-1234 or report it anonymously through CrimeStoppers.
