Three men have been convicted of multiple burglaries at Calgary-area golf courses

Golf courses are located in Rocky View County, Water Valley, Foothills County, Calgary, Kananaskis, Mountain View County and Redwood Meadows.

Crime Reduction in Cochrane charged three men with multiple break-ins and break-ins at golf courses in many communities across southern Alberta.

Kyle Nechiporenko, 37, of Calgary, if charged with attempted murder with a firearm, willful discharge of a firearm, theft of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, use of a weapon while in possession of a firearm. committing a crime and committing a crime while using an imitation firearm – a long time with other crimes related to robbery.

Calgary resident Soleil Venas (20) has been charged with 16 offences, including breaking and entering to steal a firearm, possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose and use of a firearm in the commission of a crime.

Various RCMP detachments in southern Alberta investigated break-and-enters at golf courses and other businesses in several counties around Calgary in January and February before the charges were announced Monday. An inquest has been set for January 30, 2024 by the Cochrane Crime Reduction Unit.

The investigation identified a man and woman believed to be responsible for the crimes and a suspect VW Jetta was identified.

On February 9, 2024, officers assisted by Cochrane CRU, SAD CRU and CPS TAC executed a search warrant at a Northwest Calgary residence. During this search, the woman was arrested and her stolen property was confiscated along with other things:

  • Laptops
  • Motorcycles
  • Firearms
  • Identity cards and identity card counterfeiting equipment
  • Tools and bikes
  • Canadian currency
  • Safes
  • Golf accessories

As a result of these seizures, the RCMP obtained evidence linking the three suspects to the numerous break and enters they were investigating. The break-ins and accesses occurred in the following locations:

  • Silver Willow Sports Club of Mountain View County;
  • Cottonwood Golf Club in Foothills County;
  • Sirocco Golf Course in Foothills County;
  • Redwood Meadows Golf Course in Tsuutina;
  • Priddis Greens Golf Course in Foothills County;
  • River Spirit Golf Course in Calgary;
  • Winter Green Golf Course in Rocky View County;
  • Water Valley Salon in Water Valley;
  • Serenity Golf Club in Rocky View County;
  • Kananaskis Country Golf Course in Kananaskis; and
  • Livingston Golf Course in Rocky View County

Both were returned following temporary release hearings and will appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Didsbury on February 12, 2024.

A third woman arrested at the residence was charged with criminal trespass and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. He was released on a bond to appear in Alberta Court in Cochrane on March 12, 2024.
