Winnipeg Blue Bombers re-signed Canadian LB Shane Gauthier

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed Canadian defenseman Shane Gauthier to a one-year contract extension, keeping him with the team until 2024. He was set to become a free agent on Tuesday, February 13.

The 31-year-old native of Dolbo-Mistassini, Que. dressed in six regular-season games this past season, recording six defensive tackles and three special teams tackles.

The five-foot-ten, 232-pound guard has been with the team since 2016, when he was a fourth-round pick out of Laval University. He won two Gray Cups and had 49 defensive tackles, 57 special teams tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble in 87 career CFL games.

The Blue Bombers open the 2024 regular season by hosting the defending Gray Cup champion Montreal Alouettes on Thursday, June 6 at Princess Auto Stadium.
