King Abdullah II of Jordan will arrive in Canada on Wednesday, Trudeau's office said

OTTAWA – The King of Jordan will visit Canada later this week to meet with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

The Prime Minister's Office announced on Sunday that King Abdullah II will be in Ottawa on Wednesday.

According to the publication, the two will discuss peace and security in the Middle East, including how to expand the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza affected by the Israel-Hamas war.

It says the discussions will include support for a “sustainable ceasefire” and a path to peace in the region, where thousands have been killed since the October 7 attack by Hamas that sparked the war.

On Wednesday, King Abdullah II will mark his seventh visit to Canada since he ascended the throne in 1999.

Jordan's ruler last visited in January 2023 to discuss Russia's invasion of Ukraine and global food security.
