The HIV epidemic is on the rise again in Quebec

The HIV epidemic is on the rise again in Canada in 2022, with an “alarming increase” in reported cases across the country in 2022, according to the Canadian AIDS Research Foundation.

The Public Health Agency of Canada reported 1,833 new cases of HIV in 2022. Men between the ages of 30 and 39 are the category with the highest rate.

Quebec's rate of 4.7 cases per 100,000 residents is slightly above the national average of 4.9.

People living with HIV can live long and healthy lives with proper treatment and care.
