2024 – Manitoba | A man who killed two women and three children was arrested

(Winnipeg) Manitoba RCMP say a 29-year-old man is in custody in connection with the deaths of two women and three children.

During a press conference, Inspector Tim Arsenault of the RCMP's Major Crimes Unit said Sunday that the suspect knew the five victims, but the police officer did not indicate whether the man was related to them.

The victims were found in three different locations, Mr Arsenault added.

Officers responded to the first scene around 7:30 a.m. where a woman's body was found in a ditch off Highway 3 outside the town of Carman, about 50 miles southwest of Winnipeg.

At 10 a.m., police said a witness pulled the bodies of three children from a burning car on Route 248.

A short time later, police found the body of another woman at a residence in Carman.
